DIY PENCIL PRINGLE GIFT BOX FOR TEACHER

Teacher appreciation is among us and I love to get creative and thoughtful when it comes to spoiling our teachers. This DIY Pencil Pringle Gift Box is the perfect way to add a splash to your Teacher Appreciation gift this year. Teacher appreciation always falls on the first full week of May. When it comes to giving the teachers a gift I love to think outside the box. So instead of giving them a basic present or gift bag, why not make them a DIY PENCIL out of a Pringles container. It’s the fun and simple little creative details that make such a huge statement of appreciation. Total cost on creating this was literally under $5.

I think it would be super fun to make this more custom by adding the teacher’s name on the outside or using your school colors for the pencil. Always remember that when crafting, nothing has to be exactly how you see it. You can put your own personal touch on it. Our school colors are purple and I almost created a purple pencil gift box, but decided to stick with the traditional yellow pencil for this tutorial.

When it comes to filling the inside of the pencil gift box you can fill it with your teacher’s favorite things. If you aren’t sure of your teacher’s favorite things, check out this printable list that makes it super simple to find out! [teachers favorites printable]

Supplies Needed for Pencil Gift Box:

  1. Regular size Pringles container (not the miniature Pringles containers)
  2. Yellow card stock- 9″x11″
  3. Pink card stock- 9″x11″
  4. White stock- 9″x11″
  5. Black card stock- 9″x11″
  6. Rhinestone ribbon
  7. Decorative crinkle paper
  8. PRINTABLE #2 -printable is below

HOW TO:

  1. Gather all your supplies & make sure your hot glue gun is on and ready to work.
  2. Empty your Pringles container
  3. Take the yellow paper and using your hot glue gun, glue the yellow paper around the Pringles container covering the entire container.
  4. Cut a 2″ strip of pink paper and glue it around the bottom of the Pringles container. Just like you did the yellow and it will serve as the “eraser.”
  5. Grab something in your house that is a circle you can use to trace (the circle should be larger than the Pringles lid). Trace a circle onto the white paper and cut it out.
  6. Using the lid of the Pringles container trace a circle onto the black paper and cut it out.
  7. Cut 1 straight line to the exact center of both the white circle and the black circle.
  8. Twist the pieces of paper to serve as points like on a pencil and hot glue to secure. Start with the white, twist and hot glue together, then the black, twist and hot glue. Then hot glue the black tip onto the white.
  9. Glue the pencil tip to the lid of the Pringles container.
  10. Using yellow paper rip a jagged edged piece of paper off and hot glue to the edge of the Pringles container. That will make the pencil look more realistic.
  11. Using your rhinestone ribbon to serve as the silver on the pencil, hot glue around the container where the pink and yellow meet to cover up the seam.
  12. Print this #2 – cut it and hot glue on the container.
  13. Fill your container with decorative crinkle paper.
  14. Fill your container with your teachers favorites items. I added a gift card and some items from Bath and Body Works.
