#ThriftinThursday Epic Haul

So today I scored the most epic #ThriftinThursday score in thrifting History! Still in shock and there is seriously a lesson learned in this story!!! I was shopping online last night in bed on Facebook marketplace and this ad for this bookshelf showed up on my search feed. The first thing I noticed in the picture wasn’t the bookshelf it was the gorgeous vintage books!!! I could tell just from the picture they were OLD! AND I WANTED and NEEDED THEM ALL!!!!

So, just for grins, I jokingly sent the seller a message and asked her if the “books” were for sale. She RESPONDS, “actually yes we are downsizing and need to get rid of them..you can make me an offer.” I honestly hate when people say that to me because I feel like I’m going to offend them with my offer and I hate upsetting people! I couldn’t see the titles of the books from the picture, I have no idea the age or most importantly the value of these books…soooo yikes what would be an accurate offer! Then the very nice lady sends me 2 pictures of 2 sets of bookshelves. 4 BOOKSHELVES FULL TOTAL!!! I thought there was ONLY the ONE!!!

So, after discussing the ad with a friend, and talking with my husband.. I’m trying to figure out an “offer”, because I am not determined to offer something. I received ANOTHER MESSAGE from the seller… she says, “We will sell them all to you for $40.” LOL… lady we will see you tomorrow!

So, we drove over an hour away and went to pick ALL 304 books for $40! While I was loading them in my truck I was in awww! 99% of the books are from the 1800s, the oldest book being 1798 and just a few in very early 1900s.

It was amazing flipping through the pages and seeing all the signatures and names and notes on all the books with these ink welled pins. Now my brain is exploded on ideas on where we can put these books. So stay tuned to see where the beauties end up! MOST IMPORTANTLY… the moral of this story is look at everything in the picture or space when you are shopping… you never know what you might find and remember… IT NEVER HURTS TO ASK!

304 Antique books for $40!!!! Unheard of… all because I asked! Remember all they can say no! But at least you asked and at least you won’t have regrets! I would rather be rejected than live with regrets! AT LEAST YOU TRIED!!!!
