PAINTED OUR HOUSE

WELL WE DID IT! Honestly, every time I pull around the corner of our street, I still am so surprised by this gorgeous view!!! It’s truly amazing, what the power of paint can do! We did A LOT OF RESEARCH before starting this project. You have 2 options when it comes to painting your brick. Limewash or paint. We choose the painted brick method. We honestly just felt like it was easier.

STEP #1:

PREP. We power washed the WHOLE HOUSE! All brick and wood. My favorite power washer [HERE]. Dalton really enjoyed this job…hubby did help though! Then we taped off all the windows. We didn’t worry so much about the roof because we were getting a new one. Lastly… husband went around and replaced any damaged wood pieces and caulked any holes that need it.

STEP #2:

PRIMER: Just like a new wall… brick has never been painted. So if you want to make it last you need to make sure you prime. Sherwin Williams has had a mass paint shortage so we weren’t able to use there primer.. but we did end up going with Kiltz primer from Home Depot.

STEP #3:

PAINT: We used the color SNOWBOUND-matte finish from Sherwin Williams with their Loxon XP.

STEP #4:

PAINT THE TRIM: We used exterior wood paint from Sherwin Williams in the color Tricorn black in matte .. which his basically just their blackest black. I went ahead and did around the trim of the garage as well because I think it broke up the all white.

STEP #5:

WOOD TOUCHES: We defiently needed some contrast to break up all the WHITE . So we decided to build shutter and gables in the same cedar from our NEW PORCH. If you missed that.. check it out [HERE]. We just used cedar fence pickets for the shuttered & 2×4 for the gables.

STEP #6: NEW FRONT DOOR. We are already had the new frame from when our house flooded but it is amazing at what this wood do did to change the look of our house.

STEP #7: NEW ROOF. We had bad hail damage from a a few storms.. so it was on our agenda to get a new roof. And wow .. DID THE NEW ROOF CHANGE THE WHOLE LOOK!

FINAL VIEW:

Here is the final view… WHAT DO YOU THINK? I am honestly obsessed…the last touch we need on the front is some landscaping. I am going with super LOW key simple green plants. I want the house very simple and neutral. Follow along so you can se the final view. Please let me know if you have any questions.
