Mother’s Day DIY- Picture Frame Planter

Mother’s Day is around the corner and if I’m completely honest I truly struggle with gift ideas for the mothers in my life. All of them have everything they want and if not they just go to the store and buy it. So I’ve gotten real creative over the last few years personalizing the gifts to their personal needs or taste. My mother-in-law loves sentimental gifts and LOVES pictures of her grandkids and family. So I created this Mother’s Day DIY Picture frame planter that is perfectly sentimental with an extra functional side.

This picture frame planter box could be used as a “gift box” to put gifts into, or for a pretty potted plant as shown in my pictures. My mother-in-law also loves plants, you can seriously call her the crazy plant lady, so I felt this gift was the perfect mixture of her favorite things! To make this picture frame planter follow these easy steps below. Finding the correct sized picture frames was probably the most difficult part of this process. The frames that I found worked best for the size plant that I bought were the 4″x4″ frames from At Home (linked below). Of course, you will be able to find frames in any of your favorite stores like Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Walmart and Target and different sizes will work for different sized potted plants.

SUPPLIES:

  1. Picture frames
  2. Glue gun
  3. Glue sticks
  4. Cardboard- I just cut up part of my Amazon box.
  5. Plant- found mine in a 2 pack at Costco
  6. Photos

HOW TO:

  1. Add your pictures to the frames.
  2. You want to Create a square of the frames. Adding a strip of hot glue on the side of one of the frames and press into the other frame into the back of the frame.
  3. Continue all the way around until you have a square of the frames.
  4. Hot glue cardboard or other hard material onto the bottom of the frames to create a base.
  5. Add your plant to the center of the frames.

This is such a sweet and thoughtful gift that is so budget friendly and can be appreciated and loved for years to come. I hope you have inspiration from this and I would love to know if you create your own version. Please tag me on your social media posts displaying your creativity!

xoxo,

Ashton Sedita
