**Our Family Getaway to Destin Gulfgate: Sun, Sand, and Unforgettable Memories**
Family vacations are a time to escape from the daily hustle and create memories that last a lifetime. This year, we knew we wanted to get away to a place that would allow us to relax, recharge, and most importantly, spend some quality time together. After doing a lot of research, I found the perfect destination: **Destin Gulfgate** in Destin, Florida. With its prime beachfront location, spacious condos, and incredible views of the Gulf, it checked all the boxes for our family of five.
We haven’t been on a family vacation for a couple years so I was looking for something space. I was in search of a place where we could enjoy the beauty of the Gulf Coast, have easy access to the beautiful beach, and still have room to spread out and relax after a long day of fun in the sun. Destin Gulfgate gave us all that and more. It was truly the most relaxing family vacation we have ever taken.
From Houston to Destin is about a 9 hour drive so we arrived at Destin Gulfgate at night, and the moment we pulled in the Destin Gulfgate parking log we new we were about to make a weeks worth of memories! As stepped out of the car, we could already feel the beach vibe surrounding us. The sound of the waves, the salty breeze, and the beautiful sky set the tone for what was going to be an amazing week.
The staff at Destin Gulfgate were incredibly friendly and efficient, making our check-in process a breeze. After a quick introduction to the property and its amenities, we grabbed our bags and headed up to our condo. It was located on one of the 3rd floor and as soon as we walked in, we were stunned by the expansive views of the Gulf.
The condo itself was spacious and beautifully designed. We had a large living area, a fully equipped kitchen, and two bedrooms that were perfect for our family. But the real showstopper was the massive balcony that stretched across the living room and master bedroom, offering panoramic views of the beach and the Gulf of Mexico. We knew immediately that this would be our go-to spot for morning coffee, evening sunsets, and everything in between.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME-
One of the best things about staying at Destin Gulfgate was how comfortable and well-equipped our condo was. Traveling with kids means you need a lot of space and convenience, and this condo delivered on both fronts. The open floor plan made it easy for everyone to hang out together without feeling cramped.
The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, which was a huge plus, especially for breakfast and lunch. Having a full kitchen is always a game changer for families, and it allowed us to save money by cooking some of our own meals. We stocked up on groceries at a nearby market and spent almost ever morning making eggs and bacon while looking out at the ocean.
The living room was cozy, with a large flat-screen TV, plenty of seating, and a comfy couch that the kids loved to lounge on after a day at the beach. The bedrooms were equally comfortable, with soft bedding and plenty of storage space for all our clothes and beach gear.
The master bedroom was a retreat in itself, with floor-to-ceiling windows that looked directly out onto the Gulf. Waking up to that view every morning was something we’ll never forget. The kids had their own room, which they loved, and the fact that there were multiple bathrooms made getting ready in the mornings so much easier.
The Beach: Just Steps Away-
The real highlight of Destin Gulfgate is, of course, the beach. One of the reasons we chose this property was because of its direct access to a private stretch of beach. Unlike other crowded beaches we’ve experienced in the past, this one felt exclusive. With only the guests from Destin Gulfgate having access, it was never too busy, and we always had plenty of space to spread out.
The soft, sugar-white sand of Destin’s beaches is unlike anywhere else. The kids immediately kicked off their shoes and ran down to the water, and we spent hours just playing in the sand, building sandcastles, and enjoying the warm waves of the Gulf.
One of the best features was the complimentary beach chair and umbrella setup. Every morning, we’d head down to the beach, and there would be chairs and umbrellas waiting for us. It was such a convenience, and it allowed us to relax in comfort while the kids enjoyed the waves. We packed a cooler with drinks and snacks, brought along some beach toys, and spent entire afternoons soaking up the sun.
The water in Destin is crystal clear, and the gentle waves made it perfect for swimming. Our boys loved splashing around in the water, collecting seashells, and chasing the little fish they spotted near the shore. They even have paddle boards & kayaks to rent!
Pool Time Fun-
When we weren’t on the beach, we found ourselves hanging out by the pool. Destin Gulfgate has a large outdoor pool that is perfect for families. The pool area is well-maintained, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas, and it never felt overcrowded.
We all enjoyed floating in the pool and just cooling off after a hot day on the beach. The shallow end of the pool was great for the littles. There’s also a sundeck with comfortable chairs, so I could keep an eye on the kids while enjoying some relaxation time myself.
Exploring Destin: Beyond the Beach-
While the beach and pool were definitely the main attractions for us, we also took some time to explore the surrounding area. Destin Gulfgate is located in the heart of Destin, so everything is just a short drive away.
One day, we ventured to HarborWalk Village, which is a lively spot filled with restaurants, shops, and activities. The kids were excited to see the boats in the harbor, and we even spotted a few dolphins swimming by. We decided to take a deep sea fishing trip and that was memorable for sure!
For dinner, we couldn’t resist trying one of the local hotspots. We had an amazing meal at Fatboy’s, a relaxing restaurant with amazing food. We each tried a different mouth water burger and it definelty hit the spot.
Sunsets and Family Time-
One of the most memorable parts of our trip was the evenings we spent together as a family. After a long day of beach activities, we’d return to the condo, clean up, and head out to the balcony to watch the sunset. The view from our balcony was truly something special. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water, was a perfect way to end each day.
We’d sit out on the balcony, chatting about our day, laughing, and just enjoying being together.
It was these quiet, simple moments that really made the trip special. We weren’t rushing from one activity to the next. Instead, we were just living in the moment, appreciating the beauty of the Gulf Coast, and making memories that we’ll cherish forever.

As our stay at Destin Gulfgate came to an end, we all agreed that it had been one of the best family vacations we’ve ever had. The combination of the beautiful beachfront location, the spacious and comfortable condo, and the relaxed pace of life in Destin made it the perfect getaway for our family.
