Modern Farmhouse Swing set Makeover-Under $150

This was my first big quarantine project and I have to be honest it is my FAVORITE! My biggest recommendation I can give before starting any project is making sure you take BEFORE picture. There is nothing more rewarding then seeing your before and after!

It is amazing what paint can do … literally.. The power of paint is MIND BLOWING! I honestly can’t even believe the before. So I want to share some details about our process how how easy and fun this can be for the kids. I decided to leave the slide green, because there is so much green everywhere else, I didn’t see sense in just painting the slide.

The stairs in the back, I decided to have some fun with them instead of just plain black stairs. This was such an easy thing to create. I just used 1″ tape where I wanted the striped lines to be and used the white paint from the playhouse. I am a true sucker for anything striped.

I thought I would do the same thing with this adorable picnic table. I feel like it instantly gives the table character and creates a permanent table runner!

A playhouse sandbox area filled with play sand and various colorful plastic beach toys, including a dump truck, rakes, and a sand wheel, situated next to a black painted wooden deck.

Also, we filled our sandbox with 9 bags of play sand from home depot and we just used our beach toys to put in the box and the kids absolutely love it.

Interior playhouse wall decorated with three black faux window frames, a rustic wooden triangle bunting, and the top portion of a wood-framed chalkboard.

Another fun addition I created to the playhouse was a DIY chalk board! This was EASY PEASY!!! I just use 1×3 wood and stained it with “early american” by Varathane at Home depot. Then I just used black chalkboard paint from Walmart to create the chalkboard. I did have to use 2 coats. Also, remember to make sure you season/cure your chalkboard before you use it. If you don’t you will have permanent writing.

The last fun touch I added was a DIY tic tac toe board on the ground using scrap wood from the chalk board and cut 10 pieces. Again stained them with the same stain and wrote black and white X & O on them. The boys absolutely love the playhouse.
