Leprechaun Bait- St. Patrick’s Day Recipe

Are you looking for a yummy festive treat for St. Patrick’s Day? This is it! . I made the Valentine’s Day version for the teachers at my son’s school and they begged for more. So, I told them I would make some for the next holiday. Well the next holiday is St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s amazing how with a few simple ingredients you can create a festive yummy masterpiece. Being the extra person that I am I wanted to do something special with the bait. So, I found the most adorable mini green caldrons at Walmart and filled them with bait. Then, I used clear celephane bags to put the cauldrons in. I tied the bags with green tulle and added these adorable shamrock tags from Hobby Lobby.

Whenever I am making gifts for someone I like to give those extra little personal details. I feel that makes things extra special when it comes to gifting is a must. I have a true love for showing teachers and office staff appreciation. But you could gift this to your co-workers, boss, friends, honestly anyone! A homemade gift is the most thoughtful and a yummy one at that…BONUS POINTS!

I have other yummy St. Patrick’s Day recipes… so check them out if you are looking for more! If you try one of my yummy creations let me know what you thought in the comments. As always, make sure you are following me on social media so you don’t miss any of my new recipes and DIYS!

Leprechaun Bait

Serving Size:
6-8
Time:
10 minutes
Difficulty:
Easy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Corn Chex or similar crispy cereal
  • 1 cup miniature pretzel twists
  • 1 and 1/2 cups Lucky Charms cereal
  • 1/2 cup Lucky Charms marshmallows (picked out of cereal)
  • 3/4 cup green M&M’s, or other candy-coated chocolate, divided (I used mint flavor M&Ms and they were delish!)
  • 1 bag (11 ounces) white chocolate chips (Ghirardelli is my personal favorite)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine corn Chex, pretzels, Lucky Charms, Lucky Charms marshmallows, and 1/2 cup of the green M&Ms.
  2. Add parchment paper to a baking sheet. Set aside for now.
  3. In a microwavable bowl, add the white chocolate chips. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and microwave for another 25 seconds. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to burn the chocolate. Microwave in 10 second intervals stirring for 10 seconds in between.
  4. Pour the melted white chocolate over the snack mix. I did a little at a time and stirred to mix. Just make sure to be gentle so you don’t break the Chex.
  5. Transfer the mix to the prepared baking sheet and spread into one even layer.
  6. Add 1/4 cup M&Ms on top (I added enough to cover the top) and more lucky charms marshmallows.
  7. Allow the bait to harden at room temperature or place in the fridge until firm. It only takes about 10-20 minutes. Break into pieces and serve or fill plastic bags.
