Materials and Ingredients You’ll Need

Let’s start with what you’ll need to get started.

  1. Pizza dough ( 1 tube will cover 1 of the pizza skull trays- so 6 pieces)
  2. Pizza Sauce
  3. Cheese- I use italian and parmessan
  4. TOPPINGS OF CHOICE- We used mini pepperoni and black olives
  5. Maranara sauce for dipping
  6. Basil for garnish

Pizza Skull Dipping Fun

Now, here’s the extra twist that I’m so excited about—pizza skulls with marinara dipping sauce! This is a super fun and interactive way to enjoy your pizza. Once baked, you can dip your skulls in a spooky red marinara sauce, which adds to the Halloween feel. This can even become a part of your Halloween night traditions or a fun family game night snack.

Halloween Movie Night Suggestions

If you’re making these pizzas for a spooky movie night, here are a few films that pair perfectly with the eerie vibes of the pizzas:

1. Hocus Pocus – Nothing says Halloween quite like this classic!

2. The Addams Family – For quirky fun with a touch of creepiness.

3. Beetlejuice – A perfect match for your skull pizzas.

4. Coco – For a more heartwarming, yet visually stunning experience.

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas – Whether you’re in the mood for Halloween or Christmas, this film covers both!

Additional Tips for Success:

1. Make It a Family Activity: If you have little ones then they’ll love helping to press the dough into the spooky molds. Set up a toppings bar and let them go wild with their own designs. The first time I did this a couple years ago my youngest was having a sleep over so I let him and his friend make their own. Christian and his friends had an absolute blast!

2. Prep Ahead of Time: You can make the dough a day ahead and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. The same goes for chopping toppings.

3. Get Creative with Flavors: Experiment with different sauces or even dessert pizzas (think Nutella and marshmallows in those pumpkin molds!).

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Spray the baking pan with cooking oil so the pizzas won’t still to the pan
  3. Dust your surface with flour so the dough doesn’t stick. The more room temperature the dough gets the more sticky it gets. Roll out the dough until it’s thin (but not too thin).
  4. Cut your dough into 6 pieces. So in half (on the longest part of the dough)- so horizontal for me and then in 3rds the opposite way so in my case vertical. Don’t stress if they aren’t even.
  5. Put 1 of the 6 pieces onto the face in the baking pan and use it down towards the bottom into the mold. Add your pizza sauce, cheese and topping of choice.
  6. Fold the dough over the filling and close any creases so no grease from the sauce comes out. You want to try to make the mini pizza just 1 piece and seal them all up like a pizza pocket.
  7. Bake on 400 for 16 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
